Jasper Wood
"Wood was in total command. He paired moments of glistening display with a sweet tunefulness edged in melancholy."
Washington Post

Canada's virtuoso violinist, Jasper Wood, made his first public appearance at the age of five and has since captured the hearts of music lovers everywhere with his unique and sincere approach towards music.

Jasper received his Master of Music degree with top honors from the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of David and Linda Cerone. While living in the U.S. he was presented with the coveted Scharff award for chamber music excellence.

An acclaimed competition winner, Jasper Wood made his orchestral debut at the age of 13. He has performed extensively throughout North America as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent performances have taken Jasper from Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall to Washington, New Jersey, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Italy.

Jasper has world-premiered many works for the violin and is very active in the commissioning and discovering of new music. Under the sponsorship of the Canada Council for the Arts, Jasper has had the opportunity to work and perform with some of the most outstanding musicians of our time.

In 1996, Jasper Wood was winner of the distinguished Sylva Gelber award, an honour bestowed to one of Canada's most promising young Classical musicians.

Jasper can be heard regularly on National Public Radio, CBC Radio, and the Bravo Television Network.

Jasper performs on a Stefano Scarampella violin.

"Wood had complete mastery of the technical fireworks required in the first and third movements...in a time when heaven storming young Turks dominate the violin scene, I'm so happy there's room for the refined art of Jasper Wood"
Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal

"(Jasper Wood's) technical and musical abilities captured concert listeners throughout this performance. It was a rare and wonderful demonstation of the versatility of classical music and musicianship."
