Formerly Associate Professor in the organ department of University College Tromsø, Norway (teaching historical and modern organ design) and visiting professor in the U.K., Dr Tim Rishton is an active independent consultant in Northern Europe. Formerly Diocesan Advisor for organs and church music in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland, Norway, he was for some years responsible for assessing applications for large-scale works and for new instruments in one of Europe's climatically most challenging areas - the vast region of Troms and Finmark, including Spitzbergen.

He is author of a number of textbooks and many scholarly articles, published mostly in the UK, USA and Norway.

He is also active as a performer in many countries.
