Born in October 17th, 1961 in Congonhas (Brazil), Marcos Vinicius is one of the most famous guitarists of the new generation of international guitar concert musicians.
He started his career as a concert musician at the age of 14 and since then he obtained an enourmous success both from the audience and from the critics, playing in the most important Brazilian and European cultural centres. Is it interesting to tell his first meeting the instrument: at the age of 9, on his way home from school, he stopped as if spellbound in front of at the window of a musical instruments shop to admire a guitar. His mother, worried about his delaying, came to look for him and immediately perceived that there was something attracting him, something so strange that she bought him a guitar some days later. At the age of 16, Vinicius received an "Honor Diploma" from the Cultural Councillorship of Congonhas, a Brazilian town considered by the UNESCO "A World Historical Property" and in 1984 he won the prestigious "National Contest Villa Lobos". Vinicius is always present at all concert seasons in the most important Brazilian towns (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife, Olinda, Belém and Florianopolis). Vinicius gave concerts in several countries among which Italy (Roma, Milano, Napoli, Torino, Bergamo), Austria (Klagenfurt, St.Veit, Feldkirchen) and in Spitall where he lectured on "The Basic Guitar Technique" in the presence of the students of the local High School of Music; in Spain (Madrid and Valencia); in Istanbul (Turkey), in the famous Kemal Resit Rey Concert Hall and in England in the St. John Smith's Square, London. In Poland Vinicius represented Brazil at the "Second international Guitar Festival" and he lectured on "Heitor Villa-Lobos: his guitar opera and the Brazilian Modernism" at Milan University. On account of his good knowledge of the guitar repertoire, he was present at several T.V. and radio programs, among which the late program on Paraguay Radio FM Concert, which dedicated a whole night to his career. Vinicius graduated at the State University of Brazil with the title of "Teacher of Classical Guitar in the Superior Chair" and he was often invited as a Professor and concert player to the most important Music Conservatories of his country, among which Recife Music Conservatory and the Music High School of the Minas Gerais Federal University. Vinicius is the founder and the editor of one of most important Brazilian magazines specialized in classical guitar, the "Violao America": he also created and conducted the "Belo Horizonte Guitar Ensemble", the most famous Brazilian Guitar Orchestra. He played as a soloist with famous orchestras such as the Milan Ensemble, the Pernambuco Simphony Orchestra and the Mina's Gerais Symphony Orchestra. It is necessary to point out is performance in the famous "Concerto di Aranjuez" with the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra, which brought him the first prize from specialized critics and the title of "Soloist of the year 1992". In 1987 Vinicius obtained a diploma from the Siena Musical Academy because he stood out as the best guitarist in Oscar Ghiglia's specialization course. Vinicius's recordings are used as soundtracks of the classical music channels on the most important European airlines (Air Europe and Alitalia), they belong to the musical archives of RAI (R.T.I). The excellent quality of Vinicius's interpretations, together with a technique of a very high standard and a sound of exceptional beauty, is more and more attracting attention from numerous composers who are writing works of great value for the the guitar (in Italy we have Paolo Colombo and Antonio Brena, in Brazil Julio Borges and Claudio Tupinambà).
