Aleksandr Tsiboulski
Born in Ukraine in 1979, Aleksandr Tsiboulski began his studies of the guitar in Australia at the age of 12. After completing his secondary schooling at Maryatville Special Music High School in Adelaide, he moved to Canberra in 1997 to study with the renowned performer and pedagogue Timothy Kain at Canberra School of Music (Australian National University), where he has recently completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree majoring in guitar performance.

In 1999, Mr Tsiboulski undertook a year of study at Indiana University School of Music, in Bloomington, IN, USA. There, he worked under the guidance of Maestro Ernesto Bitetti, and where he also assisted in the capacity of Associate Instructor in Guitar.

In the same year, he gave a solo recital at the Darwin International Guitar Festival, a unique event which in previous years gave him the opportunity to take part in masterclasses, and have lessons with some of the greatest luminaries in the world of the Guitar, among them: John Williams, Leo Brouwer, David Russell , David Tannenbaum, Carlo Barone. Aleksandr has also benefited from exposure to such people as Carlos Bonell, Nigel North, Remi Boucher and Maximo Diego Pujol.

In December 2000, Aleksandr was awarded, by a unanimous decision of the Jury, the First Prize in the Inaugural AUSTRALIAN GUITAR COMPETITION, held at Newcastle University Conservatorium. Since then, he has given concerts in many places around Australia and is currently recording a CD of 20th Century Latin American and Spanish works.

Aleksandr is a recipient of numerous awards, including the 2002 Australian Music Foundation Scholarship - a fund which assists young Australian musicians in Europe and the UK. Most recently, he won First Prize in the City of Sydney Performing Arts Challenge (Guitar Section).
