Giovanni Scapecchi, born in Arezzo in 1977, began studying piano, organ and composition when he was very young. He got a degree in Organ and Organ Composition under the guide of Wjnand van de Pol at the "Francesco Morlacchi" Conservatory of Perugia and, at the same time, he attended the masterclasses of Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Liuwe Taminga, Jósef Serafin, Julian Gembalski and Hubert Stuppner.

He continued studying composition with Fernando Sulpizi and he specialized with Nicola Piovani and Luis Bacalov at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena. Contemporary with his studies, he was active performing as a soloist, as a member of different ensembles, with choirs and orchestras both in Italy than abroad. He has performed many premieres and he has inaugurated, after restoration, two historic organs of great importance built by Giovanni Antonio Piffero of Siena (1512) and Giovanni Banci Castulensis (1859).

Being sure of the expressive and totalizing value of the music, he has searched a personal compositive style putting his classical preparation together the needs of contemporary music.

His compositions include orchestra works, concert works, chamber and vocal music. Some of them have been executed in important international festivals and by some great performers as well as Roberto Fabbriciani, Ciro Scarponi and Stefano Ragni. In the last few years he has regularly taken part in composition contests obtaining significant recognitions and the publications of some of his works.

Giovanni Scapecchi (Arezzo, 1977) inizia gli studi di pianoforte, organo e composizione in giovanissima età. Si diploma in Organo e Composizione Organistica sotto la guida di Wjnand van de Pol presso il Conservatorio "F.Morlacchi" di Perugia seguendo, contemporaneamente, i corsi di Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Liuwe Taminga, Jósef Serafin, Julian Gembalski ed Hubert Stuppner.

Ha continuato a studiare composizione con Fernando Sulpizi, perfezionandosi all'Accademia Chigiana di Siena con Nicola Piovani e Luis Bacalov. Parallelamente agli studi ha svolto un'intensa attività concertistica, esibendosi come solista, in vari gruppi da camera, con cori ed orchestre in Italia ed all'estero. Ha eseguito opere in prima assoluta ed ha inaugurato, dopo il restauro, due importanti organi storici dei costruttori Giovanni Antonio Piffero da Siena (1512) e Giovanni Banci Castulensis (1859).

Convinto del valore espressivo e totalizzante della musica, si è spinto nella ricerca di un suo stile compositivo accostando la sua preparazione classica alle esigenze della musica contemporanea.

Le sue composizioni comprendono opere orchestrali, concertanti, musica da camera e vocale. Alcune di esse sono state eseguite in importanti festival internazionali e da grandi esecutori tra cui Roberto Fabbriciani, Ciro Scarponi e Stefano Ragni. Negli ultimi anni ha partecipato regolarmente a concorsi di composizione ottenendo significativi riconoscimenti e la pubblicazione di alcune sue opere.
