Composers
Donna Rhodenizer has been composing and publishing music since she began teaching public school in 1985. She has written over 40 songs which have been performed by elementary school children, community choirs, mixed choirs, church choirs, and by the composer in her capacity as a professional performer. Donna’s songs have been performed in concerts, festivals and school events across Canada and also in Vienna.
Donna co-founded Red Castle Publishing with fellow performer and co-writer, Andy Duinker. They have published two of Donna’s song collections entitled, I Need a Home for my Dinosaur and The Computer Cat. They have also co-written a song book, Now is the Time, which is a collection of songs aimed at the elementary performer. A fourth book, It’s Christmas Time, is scheduled for publication in the fall of 2002. They also publish octavos of their original songs and arrangements for unison, SSA, SAB, SATB and mixed choir.
In addition to writing, arranging, and publishing music, Donna Rhodenizer and Andy Duinker perform children’s’ music as the duo, Donna & Andy and adult folk music in the group Fine Kettle of Fish. They sing a combination of their own original songs, folk songs of Nova Scotia, and audience participation songs that cannot be resisted. In addition to singing, Donna Plays keyboard and violin (sometimes both at the same time thanks to sequencing technology!) Andy sings and plays the guitar and various novelty items.
