Tomi Räisänen

Tomi Räisänen The composer Tomi Räisänen was born in 1976 in Helsinki, Finland. He studied musicology at Helsinki University and orchestration and composition with Harri Vuori. Since 2000 he has been following composition studies with Erkki Jokinen at the Sibelius Academy. He has participated in composition masterclasses with Jouni Kaipainen and Magnus Lindberg (Porvoo 2002) and with Philippe Manoury and Marek Kopelent (Ceský Krumlov, Czech Republic, 2002).

In 2001 he participated in the Ung Nordisk Musik (UNM) festival in Århus (Denmark).

His A Walk Through the Fields of Symmetry was awarded an honorary prize in Kuopio composition competition in 1997, and the following year Tomi Räisänen received a Pro Musica Foundation grant for composing. In 2002 he won 2nd prize in the "2 Agosto" International Composition Competition in Bologna.

He is a member of the Ears Open! Society and of The Society of Finnish Composers.
