Dr. Peggy Johnson is frequently in demand as a recitalist, adjudicator, and lecturer having concertized both at home and abroad making appearances in Riga (Latvia), Tallin (Estonia), St. Petersburg (Russia), Stockholm (Sweden) and Maastricht (Netherlands). She made her debut appearance at Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center) in 1994 performing the works of Mozart. As a competition prizewinner, she has been heard on Netherlands Public Radio and her recording credits include Charles Ives’ Third Symphony (Universe).
Dr. Johnson was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she was a student of Roberta Gary. At UC-CCM her dissertation focused on the organ compositions of Jeanne Demessieux. Dr. Johnson received her undergraduate and Master of Music degrees from Colorado State University, where she was a student of Robert Cavarra. From 1984-1988 she studied with Jean Wolfs, Organist and Cantor of the Basilica of Maastricht, Netherlands and Professor of Organ at the Hochschule fur Musik. As well as teaching Organ, Organ Literature, and Music Theory at Colorado State University, Dr. Johnson currently serves as Director of Music and Organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where she maintains a multi-choir program and directs the Music at St. Luke’s Concert Series. In addition, she serves as executive director of Pro Organo Pleno XXI, a non-profit foundation that supports the organ, its music, and its performers since its inception in 1993.
