Mario Parrella

The Italian pianist and conductor Mario Parrella was born in Aversa (Caserta). Moving with the family to Bergamo, he continued his piano studies at the Milan "G. Verdi" Conservatory of Music under Alberto Colombo, under whose leadership he attained a brilliant degree in 1986 and started post-graduate work.
He also studied under the famous Russian pianist Lazar Berman.
Mario Parrella's career has included winning important national and international competitions, and has been acclaimed by enthusiastic musical critics. In 1994 he took part in an international specialization course for Assistent to the "Teatro alla Scala" of Milan and here began the study of Orchestral and Operatic Conducting under the leadership of Adelchi Amisano and the famous Conductor Armando Gatto. Still at the "Teatro alla Scala" he took part in conducting seminars by the most important Guest Conductors of the Theatre. Mario Parrella made his conducting debut in 1996 with concerts dedicated to Italian Baroque Music, to J. S. Bach and to G. F. Haendel. In addition to his piano and conducting career, Mario Parrella is currently Musical and Artistic Director for the "Coro Lirico Bresciano" in Brescia.
