Rob Nijboer
is an established classical guitar player, who performs solo as well as in different ensembles. He studied guitar with Willem van Lier at the Conservatory in Groningen (NL). After earning the Performing Musician's Degree (cum laude) in 1993 he was awarded a stipendium from the Andrea EIkenbracht Fonds. This enabled him to continue his studies with John Mills in London. He has taken part in master classes of John Williams, Roberto Aussel and Vladimir Mikulka, and studied with the Czech guitarist Pavel Steidl. In 1995 he established the "Trio Saudade", which has released one CD. He also founded “Duo Azahar”. Rob Nijboer has presented solo concerts in the Netherlands, England, and Spain. He teaches at the Institute for Creative Development in Assen, at the IVAK in Delfzijl and at the Municipal School of Music in Groningen. He also leads a guitar ensemble at the Municipal School of Music in Groningen, which is dedicated to perform Latin-American music in the region. And last but not least he teaches guitar at the Northern Dutch Conservatory.
