After receiving a Batchelor's degree in 1984, Guy MARISSAL was awarded prizes at the National Conservatories of Orsay (under A. Isoir) and Bordeaux (under F. Chaplet). He participated in a number of master classes, studing Jehan Alain's music under Marie-Claire Alain, French Baroque Music with Michel Chapuis and Jean Saint-Arroman and the Académia of Pierrefonds (1978-1985) studied with Michel Chapuis, Odile Bailleux and Jean Boyer (organ) and Blandine Verlet (piano) at the Académia of Saumur en Auxois (1975-1980).
After a period on the organ and music staff at the music colleges of Creuse and Angoulême and the University of Poitiers, he has since 1990 been organ tutor at the National Music Conservatory in Limoges and for some years Director of the Baroque Department there. From 1978 to 1983 he was assistant organist at Poitiers Cathedral, and until 1999 he was co-titular organist of St Pierre's and St Michel's in Limoges. His organ concerts in France have included Paris (Madeleine, St Germain, St Séverin), Caen, Auxerre, Montpellier, Royan, and Bordeaux etc., and he has given concerts in other countries: Nuremberg (Deutchland), Exeter (Great Britain), Turin (Italy), Budapest (Hungary), Salamanque, Covarrubias (Spain). In May 2001 he directed a production of John Blow's opera "Vénus et Adonis" for the Great Theater of Limoges. Other highlights have included:
