Guitar, chamber music
Ross Mann Raised in Atlanta, GA, Ross Mann first played flute and trumpet as a boy, beginning guitar when he was eleven. After initially playing rock, blues, and other popular styles, he was drawn to the classical repertory after discovering the works of Tarrega, Ponce, Brouwer, and Bach.

A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music (Master of Music, 2000), Ross has studied with some of the finest teachers in the world; including John Sutherland, John Holmquist, and Angelo Gilardino and has also performed in masterclasses for many noteworthy performers including Paul Galbraith, Sharon Isbin, Chrisopher Parkening, and Eduardo Fernandez.

An award-winning performer himself, recent prizes include the 2000 Michael and Amelia Ablan prize from the Cleveland Institute as well as first prize for guitar in the 2001 National Federation of Music Clubs competition and 2002 American String Teachers Association’s competition.

In addition to participating in many new music programs and appearing in several world premiere performances, he has also performed the works of and studied with several notable contemporary composers, including Samuel Adler and Roland Dyens, and is committed to both exploring and exposing both new and rarely-performed literature.

A dynamic soloist and chamber musician, his programs often span several centuries and many continents, including both Baroque and Romantic masterworks alongside works in contemporary, popular, and folk genres. Some recent solo programs have presented the folk and popular musics of South America and described their influence on the art music of the region; another presented the development of the guitar in both traditional and art musics, and another the art of transcription.

A faculty member with Bucks County College in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Temple University's Prepatory Department and Settlement Music School, both in Philadelphia, PA, Ross maintains a teaching studio for students of all ages and backgrounds in addition to his performance schedule.
