Felix Korobov
Cello, Conductor
Felix Korobov Felix Korobov was born in Irkutsk in 1972. He is now an actively performing cellist and conductor, both in Russia and abroad.

He graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire (Tchaikovsky Conservatoire) in 1996, having studied cello in the class of Professor M.N. Tchaikovskaya. He subsequently continued his studies and graduating in 2002 as a symphonic conductor from the class of Professor V.S. Sinaysky, while also completing Tchaikovsky MSC's post-graduate school, specializing in string quartet under Professor A.A. Shishlov's supervision. He was Diploma winner at the International Contest of Chamber Ensembles (in Druskininkai, Lithuania, 2002).

He has at various times held the posts of:
1990 - 1993 Concertmaster of the cello group in the Maly Opera Theatre of Yekaterinburg.
1996 - 2000 Concertmaster of the cello group in the State Academic Symphony Choir of Russia under the direction of V. Poliansky.
2000 - 2002 Deputy Concertmaster/1st Concertmaster Assistant of the cello group in the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (GASO).

As a cellist, Korobov regularly collaborates with the Tchaikovsky State Quartet, "Anima - piano - quartet" (Grand-Prix laureate of the First Open Contest of Chamber Ensembles dedicated to S.I. Taneyev) and "Russian Baroque Soloists" (international contest diploma winner). He has given premiere performances of many pieces by modern Russian and foreign composers; many of these pieces were dedicated specially to him.

Korobov has recorded a number of CDs, and participated in many Moscow and international festivals, including festivals of modern music.

In 2000 - 2002 Korobov was Chief Conductor's assistant in GASO of Russia, and since 1999 has been conductor in the Moscow Academic Music Theatre named after K.S. Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, Moscow Theater "New opera".
