Molly Kiser

Molly Kiser Molly Kiser was born in Japan and began studying the piano at age 5.

A prodigy of a legendary piano teacher Reiko Matsuzaki, she started winning gold medals at age 6. At age 12, she was the first prize winner of the prestigious All-Japan Mainichi Newspaper Student Competition. After she moved to the United States, She has been a first prize winner of numerous competitions in the States, including the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, the Kingsville International Young Performers Competition, and the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition.

She has appeared as a soloist with such orchestras as the Tokyo City Orchestra, Westchester Symphony Orchestra, World Festival Orchestra, the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, the New England Conservatory Orchestra, and with the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been reviewed as "an aggressive keyboardist whose approach is a natural one" by Dr. Elwood Bear after a recital given in Mexico. Donald Rosenberg of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reviewed her performance in the Cleveland International Piano Competition as one with "great depth of tone and interpretive intensity." Molly's Silver Medal performance in the Widemann Piano Competition persuaded judge Katherine Glaser to select her to perform in Ms. Glaser's Chicago radio series. In December 2001, Kiser gave her New York Debut Recital at the Alice Tully Hall to critical acclaim.

She has also been active as a chamber musician, recently forming a chamber group, Kamar Trio, which toured successfully in the Czech Republic. She is a featured artist of Yamaha’s New York Rising Star Series, and her first commercial recording, “Molly Kiser Plays Ravel” is now available. She has recently been awarded her Doctorate degree from the Juilliard School in New York studying with Peter Serkin.
