Matteo Imbruno was born in Pietramontecorvino, a town in the heel of Italy.

His experience with classical music started after he graduated from high school; at 19 years old he became an organ student at the Foggia conservatory.

Later he enrolled on several masterclasses by internationally-reputed organists like Harold Vogel, Michel Chapuis, Montserrat Torrent and by Michael Radulescu. Under the guidance of the latter he devoted himself for two years solely to the organ works of J.S. Bach. Prior to this he had specialised in Italian organ music of the 15th and 16th centuries under Liuwe Tamminga in Bologna. This also gave him the opportunity to get acquainted with organs of this era.

Since 1989 Matteo Imbruno has lived in the Netherlands where he in 1997 was awarded his 'performing musician' diploma as a student of the Rotterdam conservatory (Bernard Winsemius) and the Utrecht conservatory (Jan Welmers). Later he became a student at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck (Germany) with Martin Haselboeck.

Matteo Imbruno currently works as organist for the The Oude Kerk Foundation in Amsterdam where he has been organising organ series for quite a number of years now. In addition he is a regular concert performer both in Europe, Japan and the U.S. and has recorded 4 CDs at various organs.

Matteo Imbruno é nato a Pietramontecorvino, un paese nella provincia di Foggia.

Ha iniziato gli studi musicali a 19 anni, presso il Conservatorio di Musica "Umberto Giordano" di Foggia. Dopo la partecipazione a numerosi corsi di interpretazione tenuti dai maestri più rappresentativi del panorama organistico internazionale, come M. Radulescu, M. Torrent, M. Chapuis, ha intrapreso uno studio privato con Liuwe Tamminga, con il quale ha approfondito il repertorio italiano del XVI e XVII secolo.

Trasferitorsi in Olanda nel 1988, ha proseguito i suoi studi al Conservatorio Superiore di Rotterdam e Utrecht, dove ha ottenuto il diploma di Concert Organist sotto la guida di Bernard Winsemius e Jan Welmers. Attualmente impegnato in un master presso l'Accademia Superiore di Musica di Lubecca, tiene concerti in tutto in tutta Europa, Stati Uniti e Asia, dove ha effettuato una lunga tourné nelle sale più importanti del Giappone.

Ha inciso tre CD per Jubal Records accolti molto favorevolmente dalla critica, tra cui una prima registrazione sul restaurato organo Cipri di S. Martino a Bologna (1556) e l'altro sul famosissimo strumento della Walburgis Church di Zutphen, in Olanda. Tiene seminari sulla musica italiana e fiamminga, e dal 1998 è organista della Fondazione Oude Kerk di Amsterdam.
