Paul Harkin
Guitar, composer
Paul Harkin was born in the East End of London in 1970 but moved to West Yorkshire in 1979 and now lives in the Wakefield area.

Paul Harkin plays a small variety of instruments of which his main instrument is the classical guitar.

He began writing popular/rock music and poetry at the age of 16 years, and later studied composition under Patrick Stanford at Huddersfield University. While at university he was also a member of a guitar duet, performing on many occasions.

Paul Harkin's music has many different artistic influences, such as dance, art, poetry and film, and is influenced by varied types of music, such as jazz, contemporary and early music. Among classical composers he lists Bach, Haydn, Mahler, Debussy, Saint-Saëns and Elgar.

He is due to give up a music teaching career in order to concentrate on session guitar work, form a small ensemble and write more compositions.
