David Cuthbert Stephen Reck

David Cuthbert attended the Royal Academy of Music from 1997-2002 where he graduated with a first class B Mus (Hons) and PG Dip Distinction. Among the many flute awards David has won are the Chris Taylor Flute Prize, AFP Flute Prize and Sir James Caird Traveling Scholarship. Presently David is a Leverhulme chamber music fellow at the Royal Academy of Music. David is currently in the Southbank Sinfonia. He has also played guest principal with the Northern Sinfonia, Royal Scottish National Orchestraand toured with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also played concertos in France, London and at the Edinburgh fringe festival.

Stephen Reck graduated in 1997 with a B Mus Performance (Hons) studying with John Feeley at the DIT College of Music Dublin, Ireland. He then completed a Masters in Music with Carlos Bonell in London. Among the awards Stephen has won are the SIPTU postgraduate award Ireland and British Reserve Strings award. Recently Stephen has undertaken advanced guitar study with Cuban virtuoso Ricardo Iznaola at Denver State University made possible with the aid of the Irish Arts Council. He has since been asked to be performing assistant to Ricardo Iznaola at Bowdoin International Music festival, Brunswick, Maine, USA 2004.

Together Stephen and David both solo artists in their own right form the exciting new duo Flautarra. Flautarra is committed to presenting exciting programmes of guitar and flute music from around the world exploring music from Bach to more contemporary composers such as Piazzolla, Stephen Dodgson and Ravi Shankar.
