Armin Egger was born in Graz, Austria, in 1975. He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz with Elisabeth and Heinz Irmler as well as the Royal Academy of Music with Timothy Walker, graduating from both institutions with the highest accolades. Egger is a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM). He also studied with David Russell, Manuel Barrueco and Alvaro Pierri at international master classes.

Prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, among others the International Guitar Competition Milan (Italy), Riviera del Conero Competition in Ancona (Italy), International Guitar Competition in Rust (Austria), International Guitar Competition Stafford (UK).

In 1999 world-famous guitarist Julian Bream awarded him the Julian Bream Prize of the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Concerts as soloist and in chamber music ensembles in Europe and North America as well as soloist with various orchestras (e.g. Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, Vienna Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Lord Yehudi Menuhin).

Armin Egger teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz as well as at the annual “Guitar Week Benediktbeuern“ (Germany), the “Summer Academy Lilienfeld“ (Austria), and the “International Summer Academy Stift Rein” (Austria).

  • 1992. 3rd prize. 27th Competizione Internazionale per La Conquista della Chitarra Classica" in Milan.
  • 1993. Semi Finalist, 27th International Competition "Francisco Tarrega" in Spain. 1st prize 13th National Austrian Competition.
  • 1994 Finalist in the 7th EBU-Competition. Performance with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra conducted by Yehudi Menuhin.
  • 1995 Winner of the Jeunesse-Competition in Vienna.
  • 1996 Recording of the CD "Armin Egger plays guitar pieces by Franz Cibulka".
  • 1999 Winner of the "Julian Bream Prize" at the Royal Academy of Music.
