Violin
Anupriya,
a classical North Indian Violinist has a unique style of her own, on the lines of fusion in which she blends the elements of "Gayaki" i.e., vocal rendering and "Tantarakari" i.e., instrumental rhythmic patterns, a manner in which not many are found playing the Violin in the entire subcontinent. She has been described by the critics as having "A keen aesthetic sense with a flawless bowing technique ". Further , her music combines the traditions of the Sarangi and the Violin and is particularly well known for the subtle nuances that she infuses with a great deal of imagination in her work.
Her father, Dr Chandrakant Deotale, is a well-known poet in Hindi.
She has studied under some of the greatest musicians of our time. Shri P L Dandwate, Shri S L Kandara and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Now she is under the guidance of the great Sarangi maestro, Pandit Ramnarayan.
She is fortunate to have the constant support and guidance from Shri Mukesh Sharma, a very talented and versatile Sarod artist of our times. The association of her Violin with Sarod of Mukesh renders a musical duets spanning all that begins from their personal life, transiting through their professional worlds and ending back into their personal musical existence.
She has received Sur Mani Award and a senior fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Anupriya has performed creditably at various major concerts in India, Spain, Italy, Reunion, Russia, U.K., Latvia , Singapore, Japan, France, Bangladesh, Mauritius, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.
Anupriya has large number of CD recordings to her credit, which include India Calling and Call of Horizons released in Germany and Holland respectively.
- Anupriya, who wields a graceful, long bow, reposes her faith in weaving a slow magic. Happily she has not and perhaps cannot forget the witchcraft with the bow and the tone of Ram Narayan. Like him she likes to lose herself in the mysteries of individual swaras as also of the raga they proceed to interpret.
