Josep Colome
Violin
Josep Colome was born in Sabadell, Catalonia in 1979. He started his musical studies under the tuition of his father at the age of four. In 1998 met profesor Evelio Tieles (pupil of David Oistrach) with whom he studied for a ten-years period.

He graduated with the higher marks and degree awards uin Conservatorio Superior del Liceo in Barcelona at the age of eighteen.

He has been awarded many prizes both national and international :

  • National Music Prize and Second Prize at the International Violin Competition Amadeo Roldan ,1997 Habana , Cuba.
  • Best Performer prize in Barcelona Young Muisicians Festival, organized by Mitsubishi electric.1998 Barcelona.
  • Second Prize winner in VII Claret Violin Competition, 1994
  • Jury special prize at the Mendelssohn Wettbewerb in Berlin 2000..
  • ARJAU Musical Foundation:
    • First Prize in the category Contemporary catalan Music 1998.
    • Chamber Music First Prize with the pianist Miriam Gómez- Morán
    • Second Prize in Contemporary Music, 2000
    • First Prize in Solo Category , 2003.

Graduated in February 2003 with the highest marks, having studied since 1998 with Nicolas Chumachenco (pupil of Jasha Heifetz) at the Musikhochschule Freiburg (Germany).

He has worked together with musicians such as Salvador Brotons, Scott Sandmeier, Peter Gulke, Klaus Hövelman, Enrique Garcia-Asensio, Vermeer Quartet, Nicolas Chumachenco, Ernest Martinez Izquierdo, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Augustin Dumay and Heinz Holliger.

Recently has been awarded together with the pianist Miriam Gómez-Morán the First Prize by unanimous decision of the jury at IV Chamber Music International Competition Guadamora, Cordoba, 2003. He has been continuing his studies with the violinist Shmuel Ashkenasi at Northern Illinois University DeKalb (Chicago-USA) since September 2003 with a AIE Scholarship.
