Alexander Vlassenkov 
Alexander Vlassenkov has "a magnetic quality as a performer" (J.Wake-Walker, Burnham Market Festival Director).

After taking Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Belarussian Academy of Music, Minsk, he was awarded a scholarship to undertake higher studies with Robert Brightmore at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was given first prize in the guitar competition. In Germany, he studied in master classes with Leo Brouwer, Costas Cotsiolis and Sergio Assad.

He has worked as Musician in Residence and as guitar teacher at leading schools and colleges in Belarus, the UK and the USA, as well as Artistic Director of a chamber trio.

A wide-ranging concert career has included performances at annual USSR festivals in Russia, Ukraine and Minsk from 1982 to 1993, festivals in Belarus, Nurtingen (Germany), Norfolk (UK), recitals in Belgium and all parts of Britain, and concert tours in Germany, Switzerland and the USA.

Awards have included:

  • 1st Prize-1999, Guildhall School of Music Guitar Competition, London, UK

Three CDs are available: GRAPHICS, TAKE FIVE, and 12 REFLECTIONS.

The first two include original compositions as well as arrangements for the guitar made by Alexander Vlassenkov. The third one contains music entirely composed by Alexander.
