In 1984 she took First Prize for Organists of the Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes Intérpretes de Juventudes Musicales ( National Young Performers Competition ) of Spain. Pilar Cabrera finished her studies with honors in piano, organ, and chamber music, taking first prize in each of these areas.

For piano Pilar Cabrera studied with Rosa Sabater, Gloria Emparan, and Alfredo Gil. However, it was the organ that really captivated her and she studied with Montserrat Torrent (Barcelona), Daniel Roth (Paris) and Rosalinde Haas (Frankfurt am Main).

In 1989 she obtained the "Diplom der künstlerischen Abschlussprüfung" for organ from the Robert Schumann School for Higher Studies of Düsseldorf, achieving the maximum classification and a special recognition from the judges.

Since 1986 Pilar Cabrera performs duo recitals with trumpetist Gary Dilworth from Sacramento, California.

From 1994 to 1999 Pilar Cabrera and Benjamín Moreno, soloist trumpet for Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, formed trio for trumpet, organ and percussion named Capriccio Imperiale.

In 1986 Pilar Cabrera made the first recording ever on the grand four-manual Blancafort organ Organo del Sol Mayor of Marbella: Toccata CBS/Spain. She also recorded with this instrument for RNE, Spanish National Radio.
