“G. Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition

pattern

The “G. Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition was founded in 1994 to pay homage to the memory of the illustrious composer and conductor Gaetano Zinetti, whose life bridged the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The main purpose of the initiative is to offer a career platform to the best young concert artists.

"A reward for excellence."
Since 1998, the main intention of the competition, that of providing an opportunity to young performers, has been considerably strengthened by an increase in value of the money prize to:

1st Prize: Lire 6,000,000 (3098.74 Euros) and Concerts in important seasons

2nd Prize: Lire 2,500,000 (1291.14 Euros)
3rd Prize: Lire 1,500,000 (774.69 Euros)
"Morelato" Award to excellence: Lire 1,000,000 (516.46 Euros) assigned to the youngest ensemble admitted to the final round of the competition
"Rivoalto-Ducale” Recording Award a recording contract for the winning ensemble
“Gioventù Musicale d’Italia” Award the 1st Prize winning ensemble will be included in the 2002-2003 concert season planning

Recognising that performance opportunities are all-important, the “Gioventù Musicale d’Italia” Award is offered in association with the Province of Verona and other musical institutions. This recognition consists of including the 1st Prize winning ensemble in the planning of the 2002-2003 concert season organised by the well known homonymous Association which numbers more than 50 branches in Italy.

Another important innovation has been the setting up of a Recording Award which offers the opportunity, to an ensemble chosen from amongst those who have distinguished themselves the most, to record a compact disk that will be part of the Rivoalto and Ducale Recording Companies catalogues and will be distributed and presented to the music press. This initiative will be of particular interest to young people with talent who have not yet had the opportunity to make a recording and can obtain, by so doing, an invaluable tool for the promotion of their career, the quality of which is guaranteed by a specific selection. It is in this respect that the recording will distinguish itself from others produced according to indifferent criteria purely for reasons of self promotion.
