Time Travil was formed in the fall of 1999 as a trio consisting of Ryan Shah (Drum Set), Mayookh Bhaumik (Tabla) and Zack Jones (Bass Guitar). They have performed in the United States since September 1999 at venues such as Eyedrum in Atlanta and The Knitting Factory and Izzy Bar in New York. They also performed in the Charleston Cultural Arts Festival in May of 2002.

In the spring of 2001, Time Travil augmented to a quintet, adding the talents of Calcutta natives Siddharth Chaudhuri (Vocals) and Nirmalya Dey (Bansuri). The new ensemble performed successful shows in Calcutta, India at Rabindra Sadan, Nazrul Manch, Science City Auditorium and Music World. The group was also featured on the Tara Bangla, Zee TV and ATN World television networks of West Bengal, India.
