Alejandro Sewrjugin was born in Oberhausen, Germany and graduated from the Teatro Colón Art School.
His debut was at the Teatro Colón, singing the Evangelist at the American premiere of Ginastera´s "Turbae", conducted by Robert Page.
Sewrjugin has developed most of his career at the Teatro Colón, in Buenos Aires, where he sang the role of Thoas in Gluck´s "Iphigénie en Tauride" conducted by Ivor Bolton with Beni Montresor´s regie; Janacek´s "Jenufa", led by Berislav Klobucar (videos of these two edited by Teatro Colón); "Werther", "Romeo and Juliet" , "Rigoletto", "Macbeth", " Tosca", "Carmen" and the world premiere of "La Oscuridad de la Razón" by P. Camps.
Previous engagements in other houses have included Alfio in "Cavalleria Rusticana", Zurga in "Pecheurs du Perles" and "Traviata"´s Germont.
As a concert artist, Sewrjugin enjoys oratorio and chamber singing. He assumed the leading baritone parts in F. Mendelssohn´s "First Night of Walpurgis" at the Sodre Auditorium in Montevideo, as well as premieres of S. Rachmaninoff´s " Bells" in Bahía Blanca and " Spring" in Mendoza and numerous recitals.
During 1999 he participated in diverse concerts celebrating Puschkin´s bicentennial, including recitals entirely devoted to Russian opera and chamber music in Buenos Aires and Vologda (Russia).
