Miss Ludmila Peterková is known as one of the top Czech instrumentalists of her generation. She graduated from the Prague Conservatory and studied with Professor Jirí Stárek. At the Academy of Music Arts Miss Peterková studied with Professor Štepán Koutník. Following her schooling in Prague she moved to Paris and studied at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur in the class of Professor Michel Arrignon.
Miss Peterková has received numerous awards, including the first prize for Chamber Ensembles at the international Concertino Praga Competition. She has been very successful for several years running in the festival "Young Scene" in Carlsbad. She was the laureate of the international competition of Prague in Spring 1991, where she took second place. (First place was not awarded.) In 1995 Miss Peterková won the prestigious Czech musical award "Classic."
In addition to her solo career she is a member of the chamber ensemble In Modo Camerale. They won the Czech Music Fund Award and the Czech Society for Chamber Music Award in 1996. They were also finalists in 1996 in the International Chamber Music Competition in Japan.
Miss Peterková was one of the founding members of the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, where she was the solo clarinet player. She has been Professor of Clarinet at the Prague Conservatory since 1994. As a soloist and chamber music player she has performed in almost all of Europe, as well as in Japan and Jordan, together with Elisabeth Leonskaya, Josef Suk, Maurice Bourgue or Sergio Azzolini. She has given the premiere performances of several compositions; for example in the end of 1996 she performed The Clarinettino by Ondrej Kukal, which was very successful with the critics and reviewers. She has performed on a quite a number of recordings and discs. Her most recent recording includes concertos by Copland, Busoni and Milhaud.
