Alessio Monti completed his formal studies in
music at the "L. Cherubini" Conservatory of Florence under the guidance of
M. Alvaro Company, obtaining the diploma with the highest marks and honour.
He then embarked on various tours of the Orient, upon the invitation of
Conservatories and Musical Institutions, during which he, both as guitarist
and composer, was able to research those aspect of eastern philosophy and
musical from that were to became an extremely innovative theme in his
instrumental and compositional work.
At present M. Monti is involved in intense artistic activity, participating
in the most important international orchestras and festivals (Europe, Asia,
Africa, North and South America), to great success with the audience and
press. He is often requested for workshops and conferences abroad, as well
as his many engagements in Italy.
>He has given Master classes at "Escuela Universitaria de Musica"
(Montevideo), "Conservatorio A. Barrios" (Asuncion), "National
Conservatory" (Nairobi), "Univerditade" (Rio de Janeiro), "India
International Center" (New Delhi), "Hofstra University" (New York),
"Conservatorio Nacional" (Santiago del Cile), and the "Bangkok Guitar Society",
Bangkok.
Many of his compositions for solo guitar, guitar and other instruments
and electronic devices, are included in six CDs.
His recitals usually include music from South America or other classical
composers, transcriptions of the best Neapolitan songs and his own
compositions.In a short time he will publish other CDs, one with
transriptions of some of the best Neapolitan songs.
He is promoter and artistic director of "Tuscan Guitaristic Center", which
organizes an annual guitar competition for performers and composers.
