Evgeni Mikhailov
Piano
Pianist Evgeni Mikhailov was born in 1973 in the city of Izhevsk (Russia) into a family of musicians.
After graduating from the Music School and Music College in Izhevsk, he entered Kazan State Conservatoire (studying under Professor E. Bournasheva), then took a post-graduate course at the Moscow State Conservatoire (studying with Professor M.Voskressensky).
Since September 1996 Evgeni Mikhailov has been a teacher at the Kazan State Conservatoire, and since November 1997, a soloist with the Moscow State Philharmonic Society.
- In 1993 Evgeni Mikhailov won the 9th V.Safonov All-Russian piano Competition
in Kislovodsk.
- In 1995 he became the winner of the 1st A.Scriabin International piano
Competition in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia), and also the possessor of three
special prizes, including the S.Richter's prize.
- In 1996 E.Mikhailov become the laureate of the 1st G.Eriksson International
piano Competition (Sweden).
- In 1999 he become the laureate of the 21st International piano Competition
"E.Pozzoli" (Italy).
Since 1995 Evgeni Mikhailov has given many concerts in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and other Russian cities.
In June 1995 he was invited to play as soloist with the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester of Berlin under the direction of V.Ashkenazy in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, performing Scriabin's Piano Concerto.
In September 1995 he played Scriabin's poem "Prometheus" together with the Russian National Orchestra under the direction of M.Pletnev at music festivals in Germany and Switzerland.
During all this time Evgeni Mikhailov has prepared many programs, including the cycle of 10 Sonatas by A.Scriabin.
In 1998 he recorded two CDs of these sonatas for the Russian recording firm "Melodiya".
Evgeni has successfully toured in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Norway.
He received wonderful reviews of his creative work in the Russian newspapers Music Review, The Culture, Arguments and facts,
in the magazines Music Life, Music Academy, and also in the foreign press.
