Katrin Meriloo was born in 1974 in Tallinn, Estonia. She began music studies at the age of four. She studied piano with M. Pakri and organ with Toomas Trass, Ines Maidre and professor Hugo Lepnurm. Ms. Meriloo was only sixteen years old when she was appointed as an organist in Oleviste church in Tallinn, the job she held until moving to Helsinki 1993.
In 1992 she was awarded a diploma in chamber music.
In 1993 Ms. Meriloo entered Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki, Finland and studied organ with professor Kari Jussila. Her concert diploma granted her the highest possible marks. She was the third organ student in the history of Sibelius-Academy to receive these marks. 1996-1999 Ms. Meriloo continued her organ studies in the postgraduate level with professor Hans-Ola Ericsson at the Music Academy in Piteå, Sweden and graduated with the highest possible marks. She has participated several organ master classes (Olivier Latry, Ludger Lohmann, Jacques van Oortmerssen, Harald Vogel, among others). Besides the organ she has studied harpsichord under the guidance of Kati Hämäläinen and Elina Mustonen.
Ms. Meriloo won several awards and prizes during her studies, including the first prize at the Lahti International Organ Competition in 1997. She was a finalist in the 1998 Royal Bank Calgary International Organ Competition in Canada.
Ms. Meriloo has made herself known to the public in over a hundred recitals, radio and TV. She has performed widely in the Baltic and Nordic countries and in Germany, including recitals in several organ festivals. As a soloist, accompanist and member of ensembles she has played and recorded with many choirs, soloists and orchestras.
In September 1999 her recording "The Art of the Old Masters" was published. This solo organ CD contains music by Bach, Böhm and Buxtehude. This recording has had excellent reviews in the press.
Ms. Meriloo lives currently in Helsinki, Finland, where she leads the baroque ensemble QuatTrio.
