Patrick D. McCoy is from Petersburg, Virginia. The son of Alex and Velma Pulley, he is the youngest of three children. His area of concentration is voice and considers himself a lyric baritone, even though he is also flexible in the tenor repertory as well. In recent years he has served as soloist in several major works including Mozart's Regina coeli, K.275 and Bach's Kantate Nr.61 with the Virginia State University Concert Choir, Guido Haazen's Missa Luba accompanied by the acclaimed Ethos Percussion Group, Handel's Messiah with the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Pergolesi's Magnificat with the Petersburg Festival Chorus with members of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the Mass in C major by Joseph Rheinberger.
In the operatic realm, Patrick recently had wonderful opportunity to sing in a premiere of an opera entitled, "The Edge of Glory" composed by Emory Waters, a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. This performance presented by the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra-Ulysses Kirksey, conductor was in memory of Lillian Edwards, who served as the orchestra's president. During his years at Virginia State University, Patrick also participated in many of the Opera Theatre performances that often featured the arias and scenes of Mozart, Kirk Mechem, Leonard Bernstein, and others.
When he is not singing as a soloist, you can find him serving as the eight-thirty pianist at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Petersburg as a paid chorister at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church or serving as a relief organist in one of the area churches.
The Aria Group, 2000 welcomes all persons to get to know this fine musician who holds the art of music very dear and would enjoy very much to meet others in an effort to "Make A Joyful Noise!"
