Mezzo-Soprano


Victoria Kelp Since her debut in the title role of Carmen with Livermore Valley Opera, Victoria Kelp has performed extensively in Europe and the USA.

She has toured Europe as a soloist with the Northern California Chamber Chorale performing in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, the Duomo, Florence, and the Vatican before the Pope.

Through her involvement with the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute, she has portrayed such roles as: Charlotte in Werther, Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Idamante in Idomeneo, Sesto in Giulio Cesare, Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and Mallika in Lakme.

Performances have also included La Cenerentola with the San Francisco Opera Guild's 'Opera a la Carte,' and Cornelia in Giulio Cesare with Donald Pippin's Pocket Opera. Ms. Kelp spent two and a half years performing with the San Francisco Opera chorus in productions of Faust, Ruslan and Lyudmila, Prince Igor, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Lohengrin, Carmen, and Aida.

Victoria has worked with conductors Valery Gergiev, Patrick Summers, Donald Runnicles, Alexander Anisimov, Steven Mercurio and directors Lotfi Mansouri, Laurie Feldman, Nicolas Joël, Francesca Zambello, Christopher Alden, and Paula Williams; as well as in Master Classes with Licia Albanese, Lucine Amara, Thomas Hampson, Richard Cassilly, Patricia Craig, Sylvia Anderson, and David Ostwald.

Victoria Kelp earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from San Francisco State University, where she was awarded the Fulton award for outstanding vocalist and had the honor of singing the national anthem for the graduation ceremony at the university, which was televised.

Her many awards and competition successes have included the Henry Holt Memorial Scholarship, Mu Phi Epsilon, NATS - Opera Division, East Bay Opera League, and MacAllister Awards San Francisco Region. She has recently been named as the national scholarship winner for the National Federation of Music Clubs and will be participating in Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point.

Ms. Kelp has most recently been seen as Maddelena in Rigoletto with the Bay Shore Lyric Opera Company. She has now accepted a contract with the Knoxville Opera Company as a member of the Knoxville Opera Studio 1999-2001.
