The internationally-known operatic contralto Lyutsina Kazachenko was born in Baku in Azerbaijan in 1962.
After studies under L.Abdullayeva at Baku, she took higher studies at the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (Vocal department), with Prof. I. Levando. Between 1984 and 1987 she was awarded the First and the Second prizes in vocal, All-Republican competitions.
In addition to seven years of regular solo singing for the Azerbaijan State Concert Company, Lyutsina Kazachenko has made two Italian tours, has been Opera soloist at the Mariinsky theatre (Kirov-Opera) under its Musical Director V.Gergiev, has twice toured the USA and Japan, and made a number of television programmes: Camerton, Night images, Dar and Metamorphoses of Opera (prod. V. Vysotsky). She was invited to participate in the 1998 Pushkin Festival.
As well as teaching at the International Academy of performing arts (theatre) from 1994 to 1995, she has since 1994 been Vocal teacher at the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. She has also given Master Classes at the Western Michigan University and at the Andrews University, USA.
