G. Jaywant is a performer of Indian classical music (Hindustani style) on Hawaiian Guitar. He began his studies with Sri S.N.Mukherjee at the age of 8 years, before taking further training from Sri Dineshkumar Sampat. During school and college days he won many prizes, including in 1983 the prestigious J.C.Bahl competition organised by the Sydenham College, Bombay.
MAJOR PERFORMANCES
In November 1991, G. Jaywant completed Sangeet Visharad from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya under the guidance of Sri B.Kishtaiah, and four years later represented the Government of Andhra Pradesh at the National Youth Festival at Bhopal. He performed in 1996 at the Vadya Madhuri Festival organised by the Music Academy, Chennai and in the National Integration Concert at Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha. He also performed for the Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh at Ravindra Bharati and participated in many Youth Festivals including the Deepika Youth Festival 98 at Sunderayya Kala Nilayam. In 1988 he gave a performance at the prestigious A.P.Police Academy. Jaywant is presently under the tutelage of Sri K.Jangaiah; Lecturer, Government Music College.
JUGALBANDI / DUET / INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE
In addition to solo performances as a Hindustani classical musician, Jaywant joins forces with young carnatic and Hindustani musicians on Flute, Violin and Sitar to give Jugalbandi / Duet performances. He has also conducted an Instrumental Ensemble titled 'Swaranjali' with a team of young classical musicians.
