Pieter van Houwelingen

Recorder, Baroque flute


Pieter van Houwelingen was born in Holland in 1951 and studied at the Rotterdam Conservatorium and the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Hague, with Kees Otten, Jeannette van Wingerden and Michael Barker (recorder) and with Martine Bakker (Baroque flute).

He has performed all over Europe, in Israel and the USA. He has made the first CD recording of the newly-discovered sonatas for recorder and BC by Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer (Erasmus WHV 078).

Mr. van Houwelingen is also in great demand as a teacher and lecturer, notably in international workshops for Early Music (Jerusalem, Dubrovnik , Arras etc.). Recently, Mr. van Houwelingen lectured at "Mannes School of Music", NYC, USA.
