Lidia Guerberof Hahn

Lidia Guerberof Hahn Lidia Guerberof Hahn was born in the city of Buenos Aires. At the age of three she initiated her music studies with her parents and continued from the age of eight with the pianist Berta Sujovolsky (a disciple of Arthur Schnabel). At the age of nine she made her public debut.

At seventeen she obtained a scholarship in order to study for five years in the Faculty of Instruments at the Academy of Bucharest, Rumania, with Lidia Cristian and Florica Muzicescu. She subsequently studied interpretation with Bruno Seidlhoffer and analysis with Erwin Leuchter.

In 1969 she became Professor of chamber music in Buenos Aires and co-director of the "George Enescu" foundation. In this time she devoted herself to harpsichord interpretation.

In 1974, again in Europe, she studied style with the pianist George Halmos and, one year later, she established herself in Spain, where she took Spanish nationality.

In Spain she was member soloist of the Catalan Chamber orchestra, the Catalan Instrumental group of Contemporary Music (GIC),and the "Laieta" Quartet.

She has participated as soloist in numerous international events: Festival of Barcelona, Festival of Contemporary Music of Alicante-Spain; Forums of New Music - Mexico; Festival of Latin American Music of Caracas; Festival of Morelia-México;Expo-Sevilla 92; Festival "Cervantino"- México; Latin American Music festival of Fort Worth; etc.

She has specialized in the interpretation of the music of J.S.Bach, Haendel and contemporary composers, giving many master classes and performing world debuts of works specially composed for her.

As well as a intensive activity of recitals and concerts with symphonic and chamber orchestras, she also specializes in chamber music and vocal accompaniment.

The Brazilian government awarded her in 1988 the "Heitor Villalobos" medal.

She is on the Faculty at UNAM (National Autonom University of México) where she has lived since 1986. Since 1995 she has organized and developed the musical archives of the Basilica of Guadalupe of México City, and has researched and written many articles on this topic.
