Klaudia Dernerová studied at the Music Conservatory in Košice and the School of Music and Drama in Bratislava with Prof. Magdalena Blahušiaková (graduating with distinction in 1994).
She has also studied in Italy, with Carlo Bergonzi at L'Accademia Chigiana di Siena and L`Accademia di studi Verdiani di Busseto (Parma),
as well as at Conservatorio di Arigo Boito Parma.
Since 1995 she has sung as a soloist in the opera of Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava, where she in addition to oratorio and recital work has performed a number of roles, including Dvorak's Rusalka, Maruska in Smetana's Prodana nevesta, Elena in Mefistofeles and Katrena in Krutnava from Eugen Suchon. She is currently preparing Katerina Izmailova (Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth) for her debut with the National Theatre, Prague, in February 2000. Klaudia Dernerova is conversant in English, German, Russian, Czech, Italian and French. She has made several studio recordings with Slovak Radio.
