Leonardo Ciampa Born in 1971, LEONARDO A. CIAMPA is unquestionably one of the most highly regarded musicians of his generation. He is a composer, organist, pianist, and vocal accompanist/coach and has achieved great respect in all four areas.

Ciampa’s compositions include Suite Siciliana (Op. 145) for two violins, piano, and orchestra, commissed by the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston for its 25th anniversary season. Ciampa’s other Sicilian works include La Bedda Sicilia, 36 Sicilian mazurkas spanning three volumes. Ciampa’s sacred works include numerous masses, organ works, and over 80 descants.

As an organ recitalist, Ciampa toured Austria in July of 2001 and will tour Germany this coming July. In April of 2001 Ciampa was appointed Music Director of St. Paul’s Church in Brookline, MA. For twelve years prior (1989-2001) he held a similar position at the First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain (Boston), on whose renowned 1859 E. & G. G. Hook organ he recorded two well-respected compact disks for AFKA Records, No Room at the Inn and No Room at the Inn, Volume Two.

Leonardo Ciampa As a pianist, Ciampa’s colorful sound and warm style are reminiscent of the golden age of pianists. He has performed the complete Polonaises, Mazurkas, Waltzes, Ballades, and Scherzos of Chopin, the complete late piano music of Brahms, and the complete Well-Tempered Clavier of Bach. Ciampa is also known for his interpretations of Lecuona and of his own music.

Ciampa is one of Boston’s most experienced and respected vocal coaches and accompanists, specializing in the Italian and Neapolitan repertoires.
