Brown founded Transparent in 1994 and provides pre-production, digital recording, interactive CD-ROM, engineering, and other services for the entertainment industry. Prior to that, Brown worked as a music producer, arranger, composer, conductor, and synthesizer programmer for a variety of artistic and commercial projects including, "New York Undercover," hi-definition film projects for Wim Wenders ("Until the End of the World," "Dream Island" and "Electric Paintings"), "To Protect Mother Earth" (a documentary narrated by Robert Redford), and television commercial spots for Arnell Bickford Associates. As a music producer and arranger, Brown worked with Black Uhuru's Andrew Bees; and projects for the 1995 World Music Festival to benefit earthquake victims in Kobe, featuring performances by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Herbie Hancock. As a musician, Oscar Deric Brown performed with some of the music industry's most successful recording pop acts including Diana Ross, Billy Preston, Santana, Blondie, Julian Lennon, Frank Zappa, David Bowie,Youssou N'Dour, Jack Bruce, Ann Murray, and Mary Wells and jazz recording greats Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson, and Sonny Rollins. Brown continues to perform his own work at solo performances in major venues. Oscar Deric Brown graduated from the University of California with a Masters degree in ethnomusicology; and studied at Julliard School of Music from 1978 - 1981 in the Master Works in Conducting Program with conductors Charles Zachary Borenstein and Zubin Mehta.
