Bristol Bach Choir makes a unique contribution to the musical life of Bristol and the South West. Since its foundation in 1967 it has acquired an enviable reputation for the quality of its performances of a wide range of music, with particular emphasis on baroque and modern repertoire. Choir members are amateur singers whose enjoyment is evident, but they also believe in a professional approach to their music-making. The choir performs in a variety of venues, unaccompanied or with professional orchestras and soloists. It has featured on numerous occasions on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, and appeared several times on television in 1996 and 1997 when it won first prize in HTV’s Sing Out! competition. Tours represent an exciting feature of the choir’s busy schedule, with visits to Spain, France and Germany and more recent appearances in Paris, Chartres and Tenby. We are pleased to welcome Peter Leech as our new musical director, and are looking forward very much to singing with him. He is only our fourth conductor since the choir began in 1967, and we are sure that this season marks the beginning of many good concerts together.
