Paul Bresciani Paul Bresciani is the Principal Bassist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Bresciani is 33 years old and was born in Napa, California. He attended Indiana University's School of Music on full scholarship, studying with noted double-bass pedagogues Murray Grodner and Stuart Sankey. In 1985 he earned his Bachelor of Music degree, and was awarded the prestigious Performer's Certificate for outstanding musicianship.

Prior to his appointment in Buffalo, Paul performed with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and the New American Chamber Orchestra. With these orchestras he has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, Scandinavia, the Far East, and Israel.

Paul made his solo debut at age 16 with the North Bay Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then he has been a featured soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the New American Chamber Orchestra, and the Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra. Paul was a top prize winner in the 1988 Los Angeles International Double Bass Competition. He is also a highly sought-after chamber musician, having performed at the Pablo Casals, Korshölm, Väasa, Nordic and Sälsta Chamber Music Festivals. Paul plays on a bass violin made in Milan, Italy in 1731 by Paulo Antonio Testore.

When not performing, Paul is an avid sports enthusiast. He holds certified licenses in skydiving, hang gliding, and scuba diving, and loves to rock climb. When indoors, Paul can be found surfing the internet via his Macintosh computer. He currently resides in Orchard Park, New York.
