Rupert Bergmann

 

Rupert Bergmann was born in Graz/Austria in 1965, and studied at the Academy of Music in Graz (with Roberta Knie and Christian Pöppelreiter). He attended masterclasses with Ruth Berghaus and Pavel Lisizian, and in 1992 with the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz. He has been a student of KS Wicus Slabbert in Vienna since 1995.

In 1990 he made his debut at the Graz Opera House. During the last few years Rupert Bergmann has worked in Vienna (with Wiener Kammeroper, Wiener Operntheater, Neue Oper Wien, wien modern and KlangBogen Festivals) in Graz (Bühnen Graz), Klagenfurt (ARBOS) and Nürnberg (Pocket Opera Company). He has appeared in several tour productions in Prague, Dresden, Stockholm, Tallinn, Ottawa, Montreal, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Odessa, Tokyo and Nagoya.


Rupert Bergmann The repertoire of Rupert Bergmann contains roles of the Deutsches Fach (e.g. Kaspar/Freischütz, Peter Besenbinder/Hänsel und Gretel) and of contemporary opera (e.g. Mannoury/The devils of Loudon /Penderecki, Sepp/Stallerhof /Kühr, Punch/Punch and Judy/Birtwistle ).
