Bodil Arnesen is among the most talented European singers.
Her career has brought concerts in her own country and abroad, with
appearances throughout Europe, in the States and in the Far East. Her
repertoire contains opera, oratorio, musicals and lied.
She has performed with all the Norwegian Symphony Orchestras and accompanied the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mariss Jansons on a tour to Japan and Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Arts Festival's Crossover Magazine reviewed her performance:
She has also sung with Atlanta Symphony (Winter Olympic Games 1994 Lillehammer), the Bavarian Radio Orcheatra (Prizewinner in ARD music Competition), the Jeunesse Musicales Symphonie Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Dresden (European Prizewinner Fördergemeinschaft der Wirtschaft), the Royal Flander Philharmonic,the Berliner Rundfunk -Sinfonieorchester, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Lukes, Singapore Symphonie, Tel Aviv Chamber Music Orchestra, Minsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnisch Radio Symphonie (3rd Prizewinner in the Mirjam Helin singing competion), Tivoli symphony orchestra and Orchestre National de Lille. In addition to this she has an equally active career in the broadcasting and recording studios. In the Gramophone rewiew for her Grieg recital on Naxos, she won praise for her "lyric soprano with just the right freshness for these open-air songs of spring and hope". In 1997 she was awarded the Record of the Year title from the Edvard Grieg Society in London. Previously-acclaimed CD recordings include songs by Eyvind Alnæs (Simax/Conifer), and works by Beethoven and Strauss (Koch Schwann) New release: Christian Sinding CD (Naxos). She was awarded the Famous Kirsten Flagstad award, as well as the Paul Harries Fellow Rotary prize. She has on several occasions been appointed official Olympic Games musician.
