Fabio Armiliato is one of the most important Italian tenors of the last decade. He was born in Genova and studied at the Conservatorio Niccolò Paganini in Genova. He made his official debut in 1986 with Spontini‘s La Vestale at the TEATRO PERGOLESI at Jesi. After winning the first price at the Tito Schipa competition in Lecce, his international career developed rapidly and led him to the following opera houses: TEATRO DELL`OPERA DI ROMA: Ernani (title role), Tosca (Cavaradossi); TEATRO MASSIMO DI PALERMO: Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu); TEATRO CARLO FELICE GENOVA: Norma (Pollione); OPERNHAUS ZÜRICH: Un Ballo di Maschera (Riccardo); OPER FRANKFURT: La Boheme (Rodolfo); OPÈRA DE MONTPELLIER: Don Carlo (title role), Simon Boccanegra (Gabriele Adorno).
In 1993 he gave his debut at the METROPOLITAN OPERA NEW YORK in Verdi‘s Il Trovatore (Manrico). He has since given several performances there and also been on tour in Japan: Aida (Radames), Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu), Simon Boccanegra (Gabriele Adorno), Don Carlo (Don Carlo), Fedora (Loris) with M. Freni, Tosca (Cavaradossi),... Other milestones in the past three years of Fabio Armilito‘s career were his debut as Faust in Boito‘s Mefistofele conducted by M° Riccardo Muti at the SCALA DI MILANO; Adriana Leucouvreur (Maurizio) and Tosca (Cavaradossi) at the TEATRO COLON BUENOS AIRES; Aida (Radames) and Il Trovatore (Manrico) at the San Francisco Opera; La Bohemé (Rodolfo) with Mirella Freni at the TEATRO REGIO DI PARMA; Un Ballo di Maschera (Riccardo) and Carmen (Don José) at the WIENER STAATSOPER, his concert debut at the ROYAL OPERA HOUSE COVENT GARDEN and his triumphal debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, in the title role of Donizetti's POLIUTO conducted by M° E. Queller. In the season 1999-2000 Fabio Armiliato will give performances at the following opera houses: TEATRO COLON BUENOS AIRES: Mefistofele (Faust) NEW PRODUCTION; ARENA DI VERONA: Aida (Radames); METROPOLITAN OPERA NEW YORK: Aida (Radames) SEASONAL PREMIERE, Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu); PITTSBURGH: Il Trovatore (Manrico); SAN JUAN PUERTO RICO: Tosca (Cavaradossi); DEUTSCHE OPER BERLIN: Aida (Radames); OPÈRA DE MONTPELLIER: La Fanciulla del West (Dick Johnson) NEW PRODUCTION; TEATRO CARLO FELICE GENOVA: Ernani (title role) NEW PRODUCTION; WIENER STAATSOPER: Mefistofele (Faust); Ernani (title role); Carmen (Don José), Tosca(Cavaradossi) and Don Carlo (Don Carlo). Fabio Armiliato has already worked with several international conductors such as J. Levine, R. Muti, M. Chung, N. Santi, D. Oren, M. Veltri, M. Viotti, S. Varviso, A. Guadagno, E. Pidò, D. Renzetti, S. Young, J. Latham-Koenig, E. Muller, C. Badea and E. Queller. In 1999 he won two important aknowledgements for his international career: The "Galliano Masini" Prize by the city of Livorno and the prestigious "GIGLI D'ORO" by the "Accademia Beniamino Gigli" of Recanati (MC).
